Yearly QH Mares Bred: 16-25
The Mills family has been raising working ranch horses in Wyoming since the early 1900's. We currently raise AQHA, AQHA Appendix, a few APHA and several quality grade quarter horses, all bred to work cows. We have plenty of speed and athletic ability in our mares and stallions, along with some of the best cow bred bloodlines in our horses.
Our colts are raised in the hills and mountains their first summer in rough, timber, rock and brush covered terrain. They are then weaned in October and put on a feed program and halter breaking/training program through the winter. I generally sell most of my colts as weanlings and yearlings from October to the next summer, but occasionally I keep a 2 or 3 year old stallion around.
Our bloodlines include Doc Bar, Leo, Blue Valentine, Sugar Bars, Holly Joe King, Kansas Cat by Kansas Gray, J B King, Top Deck, Vanny Bar, King's Touch, Jetalito by Jetalong, The Saint, Mr Gun Smoke, My Painted Robin, Smart Little Lena, Jack Fantastic, Two Eyed Jack, Classy Bar, Anita Dell, What A Pleasure by Bold Ruler, Beaver Comet - (a great grandson of Lightening Bar), Mid Bar, Grey Flight TB, and Misty Day TB. Our grade colts include several of the above foundation lines and also have the famous Peppy P-212 bloodlines just 4-5 generations back, often making them the best performance colts out of each annual colt crop.
Our breeding season is on a limited time schedule. The stallions are usually availble before May 1st or after June 25th. My stallions pasture breed during May 1st to June 25th. However, one stallion is always available for coral breeding all spring. Space is limited for coral breeding. No hand breeding availble at this time.
